It's always nice to see one of our own make it big in New York - if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere - but the Grey Lady's profile of actor Ben Daniels (who?) takes fawning to special new un-English levels.[Photo: Sara Krulwich/The New York Times]
Daniels is starring in a new Broadway staging of Dangerous Liaisons and it is apparent that journalist Ben Sisario may well be amongst the many Americans who have been seduced, as he describes his encounter with Daniels in breathless prose - "frisky and boyish...giggly with excitement" that would not be likely to pass the subs in a po-faced British paper. Could it be that I've never heard of Daniels because, unlike America, the UK is just not ready for someone who is as "juicy" as he? I can't say he made my heart stop in Cutting It.
