We've been 'celebrating' Britishers doing well in the states and now bring you even more cause to 'celebrate'. Last weekend saw the unveiling of the first statue of much loved former British Prime Minister Margret Thatcher on American soil. Weirdly, despite official claims to the contrary, it appears to be made of chocolate.
Whilst it's hard to feel too proud about the standard of political discourse on British TV after Jeremy Vine's election night shenanigans a quick glance over the pond is enough to convince us that it could be so much worse. With hours and hours of airtime to fill American news channels often rely on inane talking heads and right-wing nut-jobs to pad out the time. Whilst the punditocracy pontificate on why Hillary is still running a race she has almost no chance of winning, we can give you one very good reason: meet Terry McAuliffe. As US TV news talking heads go he's as inane as they come. He also happens to be chairman of the Hillary Clinton for President committee. 
We like Barack Obama as much as anyone, but this painting from Williamette Week may be pushing O-love a little far: the Junior Senator as a kind of post-baptismal studly-chested Holy Mr D'Arcy who sweats drops of pure magic, set about with instant roses and a little something for the unicorn lobby. Unfortunately, the reason for its existence is rather more mundane than we'd hoped. Still: queue up your serotonin glands for a frenzy of production when your eyes fill with the whole deal:
How long has Boris been mayor? a week? Two? Who knows. Anyway, the the best game-show host in politics has clearly been busy. What with re-signing his megabucks deal with the Torygraph and banning booze on public transport he's still found time to head down to the graphic designers. Noticed the "Mayor of London" logo on the new "Don't-Drink-on-the-Tube or We'll-Stare-at-You-Disapprovingly" advertisements? Where once the last two letters were shaded a different colour -picking out the word "on"- the logo is now all in one colour. What can this mean?
